Lupus is a widespread and chronic autoimmune disease, for unknown reasons the immune system begins to attack the body's own tissue and organs, including the joints, kidneys, heart, lungs, brain, blood and skin. The immune system normally protects the body against viruses, bacteria, and other foreign materials. In an autoimmune disease like lupus, the immune system loses its ability to tell the difference between foreign substances and its own cells and tissue. The immune system then makes antibodies directed against "self".

Most immune system cells are white blood cells, of which there are many types. The ones which we will be focusing on are lymphocytes and macrophages.
Two major classes of lymphocytes are T cells and B cells. The cells are critical immune system cells that help to destroy infected cells and co-ordinate the overall immune response. B cells are best known for making antibodies. An antibody binds to an antigen and marks the antigen for destruction by other immune system cells.
Macrophages circulate in the blood and survey the body for foreign substances. When they find foreign antigens, such as bacteria, they engulf and destroy them.
In the case of an autoimmune disorder the macrophage begin to destroy damaged or infected cells which may have entered the body; they send out a message to the T cells and a clean up program begins, which does not distinguish the difference between healthy and damaged cells. The cycle is compounded by the fact that the mechanism which should deactivate certain T-cells (those that have completed their mission) fails to function. The constant re-stimulation of the T-cells keeps them active. So now there is an overabundance of T-cells propelling macrophage cell destruction. The immune system then becomes totally out of control and begins to affect the entire body's function which begins to deteriorate.

ALKOXYROL Shark Liver Oil & Lupus
ALKOXYROL Shark Liver Oil works in much the same way with lupus as it does with
other autoimmune disorders such as arthritis and psoriasis. Shark
Liver Oil contains a substance called alkylglycerols (al-keel-gliss-erols)
which is a natural substance found in your bone marrow and spleen and it
works as an immunomodulator or booster. In the case of autoimmune
disorders alkylglycerols work as an immunomodualator by protecting against
uncontrolled cell growth.
Alkylglycerols changes the membrane of the macrophages allowing them to
produce interleukins. Interleukins are released and turn on other
cells. In this case uncontrolled cell growth of macrophages, B and T
cells. The body is placed on an alert status and surveillance
increases for damaged and abnormal cells.
